We got an interesting phone call in this week where a young lady asked us a very simple question: exactly what does an accountant do?
I covered these topics that I’m getting ready to share with you. Main difference between an accountant and a bookkeeper is most accountants typically have what we call an undergraduate degree, usually in business administration.
Accountants primarily manage, analyze, and report financial records for accuracy purposes. They also handle budgets, tax filing, and audit compliance as well too.
Accountants also assures compliance issues such as tax filing or generating monthly or annual financial reports. But the one that really touches me is strategic health. As you go to the doctor for your annual checkup, your accountant handles your financial annual checkup. As far as budget to budget comparison, could be financial comparison.
Or if they look in the budget and they may want to analyze exactly what are the strengths here or the weaknesses here. These are the things that we shared with her to give her better idea of what an accountant does. One of her other questions was this. When I’m interviewing an accountant and I think I know more things than the accountant does, we reassured her again to ask these basic questions so that she can understand exactly what an accountant does.
